Momma’s Piece of Heaven

I currently live in my childhood home that I inherited after my parents passed away. I look at this as my starter home and my fixer upper. I’ve been the owner since 2013. I honestly didn’t start changing it until here recently.

At the time when my mom passed away, she just had the porch converted into a sunroom. I must say, it was no sunroom at all. The money spent on the conversion was NOT worth it. The walls were all wooden, it would suck up so much paint. Keeping them clean was a total bitch! Not to mention, when you have dogs and friends over, tracking in and out the house was not fun. It looked as if it was a spare bedroom with no AC.

I had spent soooo many years wanting to change it back. I didn’t have the knowledge on how to do it no matter how much YouTube I watched. I didn’t even have the tools. Even the boy I was in a relationship with at the time, didn’t know what he was doing.

Fast forward a failed relationship, sleepless nights crying due to wanting my mom’s sacred place, I was BLESSED with someone I didn’t ever imagine coming into my life. Learning both the hard work we put in between time and motivation, we realized we are unstoppable!.

The start of ripping down the walls.

I won’t say WE, but the love of my life started taking down sheets of wood one by one. The OVERKILL of nails was ridiculous! The man that constructed this was damn determined to not have his work removed.

The HELL with that. He made it happen! We decided to keep walls on the inside and just remove the ones in the front. We would have it where the front will be the only part screened in due to us eventually building a bar inside and putting a projector for all the football games to come. (Go bulldogs…. LOL)

The doors we are keeping. Currently what replacing the wood on the inside looks. FYI the fan is being replaced as well. Don’t come at me !

Garrett replaced all the wood in the front. Bought a bunch of paint and now she’s …. Not ready but we are getting there .

Garrett is building a sectional to go in this corner.

As much as I could buy furniture, Garrett is amazing when it comes to building. I requested a custom built sectional and I would sew the cushions/pillows for it! He accepted the job.

So currently this is where we are in the process. No where near done. Still need to get screen, extra paint and a few other things. I plan to document the entire transformation. So I hope you enjoy this small blog post of my home improvement .

Stay tuned !!

XOXO Brooke
